René-Paul Schützenberger (July 29, 1860 in Mulhouse – December 31, 1916 in Paris) was a French painter. == Biography == Born in an Alsatian family of famous brewers, his father Paul Schützenberger (1829–1897) was a French chemist. The painter Louis-Frédéric Schützenberger (1825–1903) was his cousin. He studied at the private art school of Rodolphe Julian called Académie Julian under Jean-Paul Laurens.〔(Nos peintres et sculpteurs, graveurs, dessinateurs. Jules Martin. 1897. p.343 ); archive.org〕 In 1891, he married Andree-Marie Bouland.〔(Le Figaro, 1891/06/01 (Numéro 152), p.4 ), BnF〕 René Schützenberger started to exhibit at the Salon des Artistes Français since 1889, at the Salon des Indépendants since 1902 and at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts since 1907. He got an honourable mention at the Salon of 1897 and at the Universal Exhibition of 1900.〔(Mention honorable au l'exposition universelle de 1900 ), BnF〕 In 1911, Schützenberger exhibited at the "Exposition des Peintres du Paris moderne” in the Gallery Georges Petit.〔(L'Attaque, 1911/04/25, p.2, Peintres du Paris moderne ), BnF〕 In 1912〔(Le Temps (Paris), 1912/03/11 (N 18514), p.4 ), BnF〕 and in 1915, he participated in the Exposition of group of artists called "Cent Artistes” in the Gallery Henri Manuel.〔(Gazette des beaux-arts (Paris), 1914/01/24 (N4), p.32 ), BnF〕 He practiced genre painting, portraits, nudes and landscapes, treating the subjects of the daily life and intimists subjects.
